Peanut Butter: A Journey Home, is a book I made for my dissertation in grad school. It contains the details of a research project I started in 2008 called ‘Taking it back home’. It centers on the meaning of home and identity for international students in art and design. The project spanned across three geographical and cultural contexts: Ohio, Glasgow (Scotland) and Plovdiv (Bulgaria). It focuses on two art exhibitions I was apart of, one in a gallery in Ohio and another in Bulgaria. In a narrative format, falling back on some recent literature on international education and cosmopolitanism, I describe my personal experiences as an international student in art and design and how they changed my understanding of ‘home’.
